The synthesis of multimetallic M/S clusters by the reductive coupling of dimeric building blocks appears to be of general utility. In this paper we describe the synthesis and characterization of new single cubanes with cores such as [Mo 2 Fe 2 S 4 ] 2+ and [MoFe 3 S 4 ] 3+,2+ .
