The abstraction of the halogenide ligands in [Re(CH 3 CN) 2 Cl 4 ] − should result in a solvent‐only stabilized Re III complex. The reactions of salts of [Re(CH 3 CN) 2 Cl 4 ] − with silver(I) and thallium(I) salts were investigated and the solid‐state structures of cis‐ [Re(CH 3 CN) 2 Cl 4 ]·CH 3 CN and cis‐ [Re(NHC(OCH 3 )CH 3 ) 2 Cl 4 ] are described.
