The formation of a mononuclear molybdenum(VI) complex [MoO 2 {O(CH 2 ) 2 S(CH 2 ) 2 OH}(OSiBu t Ph 2 )] ( 2 ) derived from its binuclear precursor [MoO 2 {O(CH 2 ) 2 S(CH 2 ) 2 O}] 2 ( 1 ) by a silylation reaction accompanied by the conversion of methanol to chloromethane is reported.
