Synthesis and Structure of the Clusters [Cu 50 Se 24 (S‐thiaz) 2 (dppm) 10 ] and [Cu 48 Se 24 (S‐thiazH) 2 (dppm) 10 ] The reaction of copper(I) acetate with bis(diphenylphosphanyl)methane (dppm), 2‐mercaptothiazoline (S‐thiazH) and Se(SiMe 3 ) 2 in DME leads to the formation of [Cu 50 Se 24 (S‐thiaz) 2 (dppm) 10 ] ( 1 ). In some rare cases additionally another cluster, [Cu 48 Se 24 (S‐thiazH) 2 (dppm) 10 ] ( 2 ), is formed. Both clusters have nearly equal molecular structures; they only differ in the area, where the 2‐mercaptothiazoline ligands are located. In their copper selenium core both show structural features that are typical for the low temperature phase of binary Cu 2 Se.
