{[Cu 2 (L‐val) 2 (4,4′‐bipy)(H 2 O) 2 ](NO 3 ) 2 } n was synthesized and its crystal structure was determined by X‐ray diffraction. In the presence of 4,4′‐bipyridine, deprotoned L‐valine chelates Cu II ions into coordination layers which were linked into a framework by hydrogen‐bonded chains resulting from nitrate anions and water molecules.
