YbI 2 (THF) 2 reacts with two equivalents of K[C 5 Me 4 CH 2 CH 2 CH=CH 2 ] yielding unsolvated (C 5 Me 4 CH 2 CH 2 CH=CH 2 ) 2 Yb ( 1 ). The molecular structure shows both tethered olefins orientated toward the Yb center.
