[H 2 en][VTeO 5 ] 2 (en = ethylenediamine) was synthesized by a hydrothermal reaction and structurally charac terized. The structure of [H 2 en][VTeO 5 ] 2 consists of an infinite [VTeO 5 ] − layer, which contains VO 4 tetrahedral and TeO 5 square pyramidal units. Two square pyramidal TeO 5 units are connected by sharing an edge to form a Te 2 O 8 binuclear unit. The interlayer space is filled by diprotonated ethylenediammonium cations that link the layers through a network of hydrogen bonds.
