A New Hexagonal Modification of AgNiO 2 AgNiO 2 was prepared from a preoxidized coprecipitate of Ag 2 O and Ni(OH) 2 followed by keeping at 550 °C under an oxygen pressure of 130 MPa. According to the powder and single crystal X‐ray analysis of the crystal structure ( P 6 3 / mmc , Z = 2, a = b = 2.93653(3), c = 12.2369(1) Å), a new 2H‐polytype of AgNiO 2 had formed. Qualitatively, the magnetic properties correspond to those found for 3R‐AgNiO 2 , while the resistivity is showing a different dependence on temperature.
