Colourless single crystals of Pb 3 (OH) 2 (NH 2 SO 3 ) 4 were obtained hydrothermally by the reaction of PbO with NH 2 SO 3 H in aqueous solution. In the crystal structure (orthorhombic, Z = 8, Pnma , a = 2018.5(2), b = 2184.5(2), c = 722.19(6) pm, R 1 = 0.0757 (all data), OH − centred [Pb 2+ ] 3 triangles are connected to infinite cationic chains $^{1}_{\infty}\rm [(OH)Pb_{3/2}]^{2+}$ that are coordinated by the NH 2 SO 3 − ligands.
