Treatment of the biphenyl derivative [S=C{(NCH 2 Bu t ) 2 C 6 H 3 ‐3,4}] 2 or [Cl 2 Si{(NCH 2 Bu t ) 2 C 6 H 3 ‐3,4}] 2 with C 8 K afforded the new bis(carbene) 1 or the first bis(silylene) 2 , respectively. The X‐ray structure of 2 is presented.
