Monolithium bis(trimethylsilyl)hydrazine LiHN 2 (SiMe 3 ) 2 ( 1 ) undergoes disproportionation in THF. Compound ( 1 ) reacts with CCl 4 to provide bis(trimethylsily)aminocarbonimidic dichloride whereas CBr 4 behaves exclusively as an oxidant. Compound ( 1 ) as a strong base towards haloalkanes like CHCl 3 , CHI 3 , CH 2 I 2 and CH 2 Cl 2 . Also reaction of ( 1 ) with CHCl 3 provides N,N‐bis(trimethylsilyl)‐chloroformylhydrazone and (Me 3 Si) 2 N 2 CH(Cl) whereas reaction with CH 2 I 2 provides (Me 3 Si) 2 NN CH 2 . Me 2 SnCl 2 reacts with ( 1 ) to give two productsand Me 2 Sn[HN‐N(SiMe 3 ) 2 ] 2 .
