The reaction of N(CH 2 CH 2 NHMe) 3 with P(NMe 2 ) 3 or P(NMe 2 ) 2 Cl yields the phosphatrane precursor N(CH 2 CH 2 NMe) 2 P, 4 . With oxydizing agents or electrophiles 4 is converted to the untransannulated four‐coordinated derivatives N(CH 2 CH 2 NMe) 3 PX, (X: O, S, Se, N 3 Ph, NPh, I CS 2 , 1/2 PtCl 2 ). The structures of the compounds described are discussed by 1 H, 13 C, and 31 P n.m.r. data.
