Ternary oxide formation in the (Ce, Mo, Te)O system was studied between 400°C and 600°C in air. Eight new phases were observed, namely Ce 6 Mo 10 Te 4 O 47 , Ce 2 Mo 2 Te 2 O 13 , Ce 4 Mo 11 Te 10 O 59 , Ce 2 Mo 2 Te 4 O 17 , Ce 10 Mo 12 Te 14 O 79 , Ce 6 Mo 8 Te 6 O 45 , Ce 2 Mo 3 Te 2 O 16 , and [Ce 4 Mo 13 Te 3 O 51 ]. Preparative conditions are given and the new compounds are characterized by DTA and TG analyses, X‐ray diffraction, infrared, Raman and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
