Reactions of TiCl 4 and ZrCl 4 with IOCN

By means of the reactions of MCl 4 (M = Ti and Zr) with IOCN, the compounds TiCl 3 NCO and ZrCl 3 NCO are respectively obtained. Their vibrational spectra are recorded, and of them is infered that the coordination of the cyanate group to the metal takes place through the atom of nitrogen, belonging both compounds to the C 3v symmetry group.
