Interactions between CoO and oxygen were studied using classical manometric method, X‐ray phase analysis, Bunsen‐Rupp chemical analysis and EPR. It has been found that incorporation of oxygen into the CoO lattice is possible even at room temperature although the rate of this process increases markedly above 350°C. The Co 3 O 4 phase has been identified as the oxidation product of the surface layer of CoO.
