The temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant of the formation of ammonium sulphite from SO 2 , NH 3 , and H 2 O given by theoretical equation derived by Wolfkowitsch and Zirlin has been confirmed by calculations based on the accessible experimental data. Substitution of SO 2 by CO 2 in solid ammonium sulphite can take place when partial pressure of CO 2 exceeds at least 10 4 times that of SO 2 .
