The depression of the freezing point of molten KNO 3 , as solvent, was measured after the addition of small concentrations of the solutes: 1. WO 3 , K 2 WO 4 , K 2 W 2 O 7 and 2. V 2 O 5 , Cs 2 V 6 O 16 and Rb 2 V 6 O 16 . DTA‐apparatus was used in the measurements. The results showed that the investigated tungstates and vanadates were dissociated in the melt with the formation of monotungstate (WO 4 ) 2− and orthovanadate (VO 4 ) 3− ‐ions.
