Phenyl hydrazine (Ph) and benzidine (B) form complexes with thorium tetrachloride and uranyl sulphate of the general composition correspond to: [ThPh 4 ]Cl 4 , [ThB 2 Cl 2 ]Cl 2 , [UO 2 Ph]SO 4 and [UO 2 B(THF)]SO 4 (THF = tetrahydrofuran). The compounds were isolated, analysed and their molar conductivities were determined in dimethyl sulphoxide and dimethylformamide. The nature of coordination was discussed in the light of i.r. spectral assignments.
