The generalised mean square amplitudes of vibration and the Coriolis coupling coefficients of the S 6 and S 8 molecules have been obtained. While the parallel mean square amplitude of the S 1 — S 2 bond remains nearly the same in both the molecules, the perpendicular mean square amplitudes and the non‐bonded mean square amplitudes are found to be considerably larger in S 8 . To a large extent, this may be due to the difference in the charge distribution between the two molecules.
