Bromo‐[ 2 H 5 ]diethylenetriamineplatinum(II) bromide has been prepared and characterised, and the kinetics of its reaction with 3‐cyanopyridine in deuterium oxide solution have been investigated. The results are compared with those previously reported for the corresponding reaction of the protium complex in protium oxide solution, and the deuterium isotope effect observed is discussed in terms of an associative mechanism.
