A normal‐coordinate analysis is reported for five molecules of the X 2 Y 2 type with C 2 symmetry: S 2 Cl 2 , S 2 Br 2 , H 2 S 2 , H 2 O 2 and D 2 O 2 . Mean amplitudes of vibration have been calculated, including the framework mean amplitudes for the Y … Y distances as functions of the angle of internal rotation.
