The reaction of neodymium with hydrogen was investigated from 100 to 800°C. The predominant portion of the hydrogen is taken up at constant rate. The final saturation with hydrogen is diffusion‐controlled and obeys the parabolic laws. A reaction mechanism is proposed in terms of the various phases of reaction displayed by plots of average composition versus time.
