The partition of zirconium(IV) between nitric acid solutions and solutions of tri‐n‐butyl phosphate (TBP) and of di‐(2‐ethylhexyl)‐phosphoric acid (DEHPA) in kerosene has been investigated at different conditions. The effect of organic solvent in the extraction by DEHPA has been examined. A high resoluion 1 HNMR spectral study has been made of the organic phases from the extraction by TBP. The mechanism of the extractions is discussed in the light of the results obtained.
