The effect of temperature on the absorption spectra of Cu 2+ in tetra‐coordination (Cu x Zn 2−x SiO 4 and CaNi 0.01 Cu 0.99 Si 4 O 10 ) was investigated spectrophotometrically. The results on Cu x Zn 2−x SiO 4 showed lower intensity of light in the main band together with the appearance of another flat maximum. The limit of isomorphous replacement may be about x = 0,05 Cu 2+ in the system Cu x Zn 2−x SiO 10 . The decomposition of the phase CaNi 0.01 Cu 0.99 Si 4 O 10 and its reformation was observed.
