The uptake of U VI from hydrochloric acid solutions on five extra‐pure silica samples was studied in function of acidity, time of contact and temperature of solution. The uptake was found to be affected by the characteristics of the sample. Mechanisms of uptake are discussed. The effect of uranium concentration on uptake was also studied and the results were found to obey the L UNGMUIR isotherm.
