“Hydrolytic” uranic acid, the mother substance from which uranates can be really prepared as well as formally deduced, is prepared from uranyl solutions using alkalization by means of an anion exchange resin in OH‐form. The product is identified as the so‐called uranium trioxide dihydrate, α‐UO 3 · 2 H 2 O. Its behaviour as an actual acid is verified by preparing uranates in neutralization reaction. Its formula is proposed.
