The interaction of Sb(III) and Bi(III) ions with N‐hydroxyethyl ethylene diamine triacetic acid (H 3 ZOH) was investigated by pH metric and spectrophotometric methods. Evidence is presented for the formation of the species SbZOH, SbZO − , SbZO(OH) 2− , BiZOH and BiZO − and their stability constants determined. The compounds SbZOH · H 2 O, BiZOH · H 2 O and BiZONa · 4 H 2 O were isolated and their X‐ray powder data are given.
