The compounds Cr II (N 2 H 4 ) 2 X 2 , (X = Cl, Br, J), have been prepared. Magnetic studies over a range of temperature of 90 to 350°K show them to be spin free chromium(II) complexes. Their infra‐red spectra are almost identical to those of other hydrazine complexes of bivalent metals which have been assigned polymeric structures involving bridging hydrazine molecules. The frequency of the main band in their reflectance spectra is independent of the halogen, and this is presumably due to a large tetragonal distortion.
