The precise nature of the poly‐anions formed by the action of acids (HCl, HNO 3 , H 2 SO 4 , and CCl 3 COOH) on sodium tungstate solutions has been studied by pH and conductometric measurements involving glass electrode and conductometric titrations and by the application of JOBschen method of continuous variation. The breaks, inflexions and maxima in curves indicate the formation of poly‐tungstate ions. para W 7 O   24 6−at pH range 5.8–6.2, and meta W 4 O   13 2−at pH 3.75–4.25 corresponding to the ratios 7 W : 8 H + ; 6 W : 9 H + , respectively.
