Two new zinc and cadmium ammines borates [Zn(NH 3 ) 3 H 2 O]B 4 O 7 · 6 H 2 O and [Cd(NH 3 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]B 4 O 7 · 5 H 2 O, have been prepared by following a modification of a method previously worked out in this laboratory 1 ). The general properties and thermal stability of these compounds are recorded. These compounds afford a means of preparing the pure tetraborates, ZnB 4 O 7 and CdB 4 O 7 , respectively.
