The paper describes studies on the composition and stability of lanthanum—Thoron chelate by the spectrophotometric method. This red coloured chelate has λLD max at 515 mμ. The composition as determined by different methods is 1 : 2. The chelate is stable between pH 4.0 and 8.0. The values of log K as determined by two different methods are 9.92 ± 0.25 and 10.25 ± 0.2 respectively at pH 5.5 and temperature 25°.
