The potentiometric acidimetric determination of zirconium is based on the interaction between its hydroxide and KF yielding hydroxide ions which are determined with standard HCl as titrant. This method is not suitable for the estimation of titanium. The presence of Be, Al, La, Th and second group cations interfere. However, the presence of Cr, Ni, Co, Zn and Mn even in larger quantities does not affect the accuracy of the results. The method is quick, simple, specific and yields satisfactory results.
