The compounds KHgBr 2 CN (I), KHgCl 2 CN (Ia), KHg(CN) 2 Br (II), KHg(CN) 2 Cl(IIa) and K 2 Hg(CN) 4 (III) have been isolated from the systems: HgX 2 ‐‐KCN–H 2 O and Hg(CN) 2 –KX–H 2 O (where X=Br or Cl). Whereas I and Ia are obtained from reaction mixtures of the composition KCN:HgX 2 and III from 4 KCN:HgX 2 , II and IIa crystallise out from reaction mixtures constituted with large variations of the components.
