Recently, several coherent phenomena associated with the propagation of x‐rays in capillary optical elements (polycapillary lenses and systems of capillaries) have been observed. In order to describe these effects, a quantum‐wave theory of channeling was developed. In this paper, a theoretical analysis of scattering of x‐rays in capillary micro‐ and nanostructures within the frame of the wave approach is presented. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
