The relative intensities of M‐X‐ray satellites for heavy elements have been calculated. These satellite lines arise from X‐ray emission with multiple vacancy states in M and N shells. The origin of multiple vacancies is considered as the Coster–Kronig transition as well as the shake process. The calculated intensities are compared with the experimental results and other theoretical calculations. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
