A study of L III intensity ratios by using characteristic x‐rays as the exciting radiation is described. Only the L III subshells of Pb, Th and U were excited by the characteristic x‐rays of the elements used as the secondary sources. A Ge(Li) detector system coupled to a programmable multi‐channel analyser was used in the measurements. Lα 1 , 2 /L 1 , Lα 1 , 2 /Lβ 6 and Lα 1 , 2 /Lβ 2 , 15 intensity ratios of Pb, Th and U were determined by spectral analysis and were compared with recent theoretical and experimental results.
