An improved energy‐dispersive x‐ray fluorescence analyser has been used in a copper smelting works. An empirical correction program with α parameters according to the Lachance–Traill algorithm has been applied. The concentrations of eight elements in brass, red brass, bronze and albronze have been determined with acceptable accuracies.
