Wide‐range calibrations for 16 elements in nickel‐base alloys have been established with theoretical inter‐element correction coefficients. Details of the instrument conditions and line‐overlap corrections are given. A new approach to the specification of the ‘average composition’ used for the calculation of correction coefficients is described. An accuracy superior to that obtained by currently used methods was achieved.
