An outline for a simple pulse spectroscope which attaches to a standard laboratory CRO is presented. The peak amplitude (voltage) of each pulse from the linear amplifier of a single channel X‐ray analyser is stored for the duration of one oscilloscope trace. For each amplifier pulse, input from the discriminator is tested and if there is coincidence of pulses the oscilloscope beam is blanked for approximately the first 2 cm of its traverse across the screen. Repetition of pulses forms a pulse height distribution with a rectangular dark area marking the position of the discriminator window.
