Measurements have been made of K X‐ray production from elements bombarded with protons. The X‐ray yields have been measured from thick targets of V, Fe, Zn, Ga, Y, Cd, In and Sn as a function of proton energy in the range 1–3 Me V. K‐shell ionization cross‐sections have been derived from the experimental data and these have been compared with the results of other workers and the predictions of the plane wave Born approximation (PWBA) and the binary encounter approximation (BEA).
