Chromite‐rich samples are notoriously difficult to analyze by XRF spectrometry because of the low solubility of chromium in lithium borate fluxes. Our evaluation of the suitability to use powder briquettes of micronized samples implies that reasonable results can be obtained, but critical awareness of the questions behind the analyses and the possible shortcomings of data reduction procedures are required.
