The severe winter weather that prevailed during the period between 7 December 1981 and 18 January 1982 was truly a once‐in‐a‐lifetime experience. During this six‐week period, two episodes of heavy snowfall were followed by clearing skies and exceptionally low temperatures, both by day and by night. This account reports the author's recollections of observing daily weather conditions in rural Worcestershire during this memorable winter.
