Abstract Autoimmune subepidermal bullous dermatoses are rarely described in the horse. Few reported cases have not been cured favourably. A 15‐year‐old male horse was presented with general ulcerative and blistering lesions on skin and oral cavity. Histopathological evaluation of skin biopsy specimens revealed dermal and epidermal separation with subepidermal vesicles and mild infiltration of inflammatory cells (predominantly mononuclear cells). Clinical, historical and histopathological examinations demonstrated a subepidermal vesicular dermatosis. Treatment was initiated with dexamethasone at 0.05 mg/kg IM daily for 3 days, followed by oral prednisolone at 1 mg/kg daily for 2 months. A complete resolution of clinical signs was observed after 2 months, and no recurrence was observed after 24 months follow‐up. No adverse effects were observed.
