The different types of antistatic agents used in vinyl compounds are reviewed. Although each type functions generally in the same way, by formation of a two‐dimensional, hydrogen‐bonded, hygroscopic network on the surface of the finished article, there are noticeable differences in performance and suitability for various applications. Test methods are compared and working formulations for a range of applications discussed.
