This paper describes various SPC methods that can be used to promote quality improvement, resulting in increased productivity and lower costs. By concentrating on preventative systems rather than detective systems, the operation has increased productivity by 5.0% over a period of two years with relatively little capital investment. This has resulted in an additional capacity of 650,000 kg per year.
