Abstract Functional acrylic monomers are used as coagents with polyvinyl chloride plastisols to improve abrasion resistance, tensile strength, chemical resistance, permanent set, hardness, and adhesion. The emphasis of this paper is on the enhancement of physical properties which can be achieved through addition of a variety of different functional acrylic monomers (mono‐, di‐, and tri‐functional) to a PVC plastisol formulation. Collected test data will be given to show the effect these monomers have on the plastisol's physical properties.
