Abstract Dimensional stability problems such as warpage, bowing and other changes in shape and size may occur when exterior building products (siding, windows) are heated by the sun. This paper describes the effects of material properties such as coefficient of thermal expansion, heat distortion temperature, modulus, and heat build‐up, caused by the sun, on dimensional stability of the exterior building products.
