Abstract Vinyl siding is described as a product in the early maturity stage of business development. The competitive position of rigid vinyl siding vis‐a‐vis other products is discussed. Total weathering exposures from point sources not usually thought of are reviewed. Methods of control for weathering caused changes as well as resistance evaluation are covered. The impact on the industry of the voluntary product standard PS55‐72 is mentioned.
