Abstract Melt flow modification of plastic composites is becoming increasingly important in the design of thin wall moldings. One approach to enhancing melt flow properties is by using phosphate esters. While phosphate ester plasticizers have been used for many years in flexible vinyl applications, the recent development of oligomeric phosphate esters offers high stability, low fugitive characteristics and melt flow enhancement to these demanding situations at a modest level. This paper discusses the influence of these additives to mechanical and melt flow properties in different process regimes for ABS.
