The purpose of this study is assessment of acute and subchronic toxicity of HA‐Alg prepared to be used as calcium supplement. Acute toxicity studies wereconducted in Swiss mice, the results showed that preparedHA‐Alg is non‐acute toxic (LD 50 greater than 5000 mg/kg). Subchronic toxicity was evaluated in rabbits of both sexes by repeated oral administration using a gavage for 28 consecutivedays. The estimation of general conditions and behaviors including body weight, fur, food consumption and water intake, bowel movement, morbidity, mortality have been carried out. Data of blood hematological, serum biochemical parameters and pathomorphological exploration revealed no statistically significant differences amongrabbitstreated with HA‐Alg(dosesof 60 mg/kgb.w./day and 180 mg/kgb.w./day) and the control group.
